I heart quirky outcasts!
This looks too cute to pass up. I love a good underdog story and this one looks far smarter than most of the pabulum dished out to our kids. Starring Meaghan Jette Martin, Vanessa Marano, Beth Grant and Melissa Leo (love her!), Dear Lemon Lima is a “team of misfits” teen comedy.
13-year-old Vanessa (Martin) loves Phillip. Phillip decides he no longer reciprocates. Vanessa sets out to win him back, creating more grief for her young self. Her last ditch attempt to win his affection sets her on the underdog course that will undoubtedly lead to self-realization and happiness independent of a boyfriend. Because that’s what it always leads to. Sometimes I’m good with predictability.
Phase 4 Films is releasing the movie March 4th to both the big screen and Video on Demand. Unusual, to be sure, but whatever works for them. Dear Lemon Lima looks like it has a snap and sparkle that’s too often missing from movies aimed at teens (especially young teens). I love good writing no matter who the target audience is – I’m all in for Dear Lemon Lima.
