Actor Gordon Scott died April 30 of post-op complications after heart surgery. Scott made 24 movies, mostly Westerns and other adventures, but is best known for playing Tarzan, opening his movie career with six straight films about the Edgar Rice Burroughs character.
Although he wasn’t a swimmer like another Tarzan actor, Johnny Weissmuller, Scott did have the water to thank for his big break; he was a lifeguard in Vegas when he was discovered by a film producer and signed to a seven-year contract. Scott was 80 when he died.
