Sixteen cities named Springfield — in Oregon, Massachusetts and states in between — have been invited to compete for the U.S. premiere of the upcoming Simpsons movie. 20th Century Fox, the movie’s distributor, will judge the competition based on short films which are supposed to highlight each city’s good points and links to the fictional Springfield.
I hope all sixteen cities compete (as far as I know, only the Oregon Springfield has accepted so far). I also hope that when the movie does come to theaters, it’ll bring at least a couple of those shorts with it; it would be very entertaining to see how cities promoted themselves.
