Hits and misses of the Golden Globe TV nominations

Here is a rundown on the hits and misses of this year’s nominations.

Hits
Pushing Daisies: So glad to see it get nominated in the comedy category as well as lead acting kudos for Lee Pace and Anna Friel.
Damages: The FX legal thriller picked up four nods in its first season including one for best drama. Glenn Close and Ted Danson weren’t necessarily surprises since they played showy characters. Plus, they’re big-name stars that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association loves to have at their awards program. But Rose Byrne was unexpected and an excellent inclusion.
30 Rock: No doubt helped by its Emmy win, the NBC comedy picked up a nod for best comedy, plus acting recognition for Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey.

Misses:
Ugly Betty: Probably should have been included in the comedy category. Plus, no nods for Vanessa Williams, Becki Newton or Michael Urie? Ugly, indeed.
CSI: Sure, it’s been around forever, but it had one of its best seasons yet with the Miniature Killer last year.
Lost: Sure, it has its detractors. But Lost regained its footing last season and remained one of the most gripping shows on TV while Heroes and 24 stumbled badly.
