Actress Mia Farrow has volunteered to give up her freedom so that a Darfur rebel leader can leave Sudan for to get treatment for abdominal problems. In a letter to President Omar al-Bashir (also posted on her website), Farrow offered to take the place of Suleiman Jamous, who is currently at a UN hospital. Even though the UN says Jamous is free to leave, the rebel leader faces possible reprisal or arrest by government forces. UNICEF, which once had Farrow as one of its goodwill ambassadors, said it would consult with Farrow before commenting.
