Action-movie director John McTiernan (Predator, The Hunt for Red October, two Die Hard movies) was sentenced to four months in prison and fined $100,000 today for lying to investigators. FBI agents are putting together a case against Anthony Pellicano, a private eye who is accused of tapping phones and bribing police to get information for his clients. McTiernan initially told an FBI agent that he had used Pellicano only during his service; he later admitted that he had hired Pellicano to tap the phone of film producer Charles Roven. The director’s lawyer attempted to withdraw McTiernan’s guilty plea, and said he plans to appeal.
