Fans of the Indiana Jones franchise got one piece of bad news today: Sean Connery won’t reprise his role as Indy’s dad. The actor, who appeared in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, announced today via Lucasfilm’s website that he won’t appear in the fourth film.
“”I thought long and hard about it,” Connery said in his statement, “and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an ‘Indiana Jones’ film.”
Even with Connery’s absence, the as-of-yet untitled film won’t be short on talent. Lucasfilm also announced that Cate Blanchett, John Hurt and Ray Winstone will join Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf in the cast.
