Anthony Hopkins and Merchant Ivory Productions have had a long and fruitful collaboration, but that will probably end after Hopkins filed suit against the production company. Samson Inc., a company co-owned by Hopkins, claims the actor is owed $750,000 in unpaid salary for his work on The City of Your Final Destination, his fourth film with Merchant Ivory. Court documents claimed that Hopkins was supposed to be paid by January 10; he is seeking the $750,000 plus interest, attorney’s fees, and anything else deemed “just and proper”.
Merchant Ivory had no comment on the suit, but in April said in a statement, “Fortunately, Anthony Hopkins is ill-informed and just plain wrong. All of our Argentine cast, crew and entire production costs of that shoot were paid promptly some months ago.”
