TV personality Mike Douglas passed away today, on his 81st birthday. Douglas hosted The Mike Douglas Show from 1961 to 1982, which featured music and interviews with various personalities, including seven former, sitting or future presidents. (His show was often called a talk show, but Douglas said it didn’t really qualify: “It was really a music show, with a whole lot of talk and laughter in between numbers.”)
Douglas also was a singer, and many people who have never seen his show have still heard him; he provided the singing voice for Prince Charming in Disney’s 1950 animated film of Cinderella.
