NBC fans, say hello to four new comedies and six new dramas next season, plus the return of the NFL.
Coming in fall 2006
Comedies: 20 Good Years, 30 Rock
Dramas: Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Kidnapped, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Sports: Football Night in America, Sunday Night Football
Coming in January 2007
Comedies: Andy Barker, P.I., The Singles Table
Dramas: The Black Donnellys, Raines
Returning: The Biggest Loser, Crossing Jordan (timeslot TBD), Dateline Saturday, Deal or No Deal, ER, all three Law and Order series, Las Vegas, Medium, My Name is Earl, The Office, Scrubs (timeslot TBD)
Not returning: Conviction, E-Ring, Fear Factor, Joey, Surface, Teachers, The West Wing, Will and Grace
My predictions:
First new show to be cancelled: Andy Barker, P.I. Andy Richter is good in an ensemble, but can he carry a show?
First new show to become a cult favorite: Raines. It’s not the most original concept (see Medium and Ghost Whisperer), but Jeff Goldblum is a good actor. If his character is interesting enough, this show will stick.
New show I’m most looking forward to: Studio 60. It’d be very hard to go wrong with Aaron Sorkin and Bradley Whitford.
