Studios withhold more, release less.
I’ve already gone on record as hating the 28 day delay imposed by some studios on Netflix releases. Supposedly it’s to help DVD sales, but I don’t believe it does any such thing. All it does is make schedules ridiculously complicated for renters and make the studios look like jerks. This installment of New on Netflix is devoted to whichever studio is responsible for the delay of Farewell, a 2009 French thriller that I’m absolutely sure will bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars in DVD sales in the 28 days it’s withheld from Netflix subscribers. I mean, how could it not?
Jerks.

So there you have it my friends, more delays than releases. Pathetic. I will be taking a look at the documentary Marwencol and the thriller Hereafter, however. Fortunately for all of us, Netflix has a giant catalogue – I don’t think we’ll be too put out by the delay in getting Little Fockers. You can find more Netflix release dates at Everything Netflix.
