Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos have sued Gold Circle Films, one of the film’s producers. According to the suit, a tracking firm says the hit comedy made about $370 million in theatrical sales, but Gold Circle claims aggregate profits come out to only $287 million — and the lower the gross, the less the company needs to pay Hanks, Wilson and Vardalos under their contracts. Scott Niemeyer, one of Gold Circle’s principals, called the suit frivolous, and said the plaintiffs have already been paid over $44 million in profits.
