More of the Best!
MainCast: Voices of: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas

Our favorite Ogre is back for another rip-roaring adventure. This time Shrek (Myers) and his new wife Princess Fiona (Diaz) travel back to her old kingdom to see “the folks”, who wish to meet her new husband. Of course they are accompanied by Donkey (Murphy), who makes the trip to the kingdom far, far away seem much, much longer.
Eventually they arrive and, as one can imagine, the King (John Cleese) and Queen (Julie Andrews) are completely surprised at both Shrek and Fiona’s transformation. As Shrek and Fiona try to blend in, plans are derailed, more plans are hatched, misunderstandings and secrets abound, and events twist and turn in another delightful plot that may or may not have a “happily ever after” ending.
I am very impressed with the CGI, which is light-years more refined than the first movie. And the movie does not rest on its good looks, it has a solid plot with enough surprises to delight the jaded, such as myself. I particularly like the slightly dark, sarcastic feel of the thing, which is certainly not squeaky-clean fairy-tale fantasy. A very brief homage to The Little Mermaid at the beginning of the movie made me laugh. Disney is not the only one skewed: there are many quick references to just about every popular recent movie and tale hidden inside. And the assassin sent after Shrek is arguably the neatest character ever to come down the pike.
Many sequels are not as good as the original. Shrek 2 breaks this mold. Please, go out and check this one out! It is great fun for both kids and adults.
