New on Netflix – September 7th and September 14th

Come watch with me!

Another day, another dollar – to spend renting and buying DVDs!  Let’s see what’s new this week, for purchase and on Netflix.  For the first time, this week, there is a movie being released on Netflix before being released for purchase – will wonders never cease?

September 7th

Sorry, Thanks (drama, Wiley Wiggins, Kenya Miles) – Early Netflix release, DVD (purchase release September 14th).  Here’s our novelty of the week, folks!

Date Night (comedy, Steve Carell, Tina Fey) – Netflix release, DVD and Blu-Ray, delayed from purchase release of August 10th.  Remarkably, I’ve already seen this one!  You can read my review here.

The Joneses (drama, David Duchovny, Demi Moore) – Netflix release, DVD and Blu-Ray, delayed from purchase release of August 10th

Killers (action comedy, Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Solitary Man (drama, Michael Douglas, Susan Sarandon, Mary Louise Parker, Danny DeVito, Jenna Fischer) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

That Evening Sun (drama, Hal Holbrooke, Dixie Carter) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD

MacGruber (comedy spoof, Will Forte, Kristin Wiig) – Purchases release, DVD and Blu-Ray, delayed Netflix release (October date pending)

September 14th

Temple Grandin (biographical drama, Claire Danes, Catherine O’Hara, Julia Ormond, David Strathairn) – Netflix release, DVD and Blu-Ray (delayed from purchase release of August 17th).  This HBO movie had a great night at the Emmy Awards.

Letters to Juliet (romance, Amanda Seyfried, Christopher Egan) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (action adventure, Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Casino Jack and the United States of Money (documentary) Netflix and purchase release, DVD

Princess Kaiulani (biographical drama, Q’Orianka Kilcher) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD

Paper Man (drama, Jeff Daniels, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone) – Purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray, delayed Netflix release, no date pending

Just Wright (romance, Queen Latifah, Common) – Purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray, delayed Netflix release, October date pending

So not a whole lot for our post-Labor Day viewing, but there’s always something worth watching.  I’m pretty excited to see my first Netflix Scoop – I have no idea of Sorry, Thanks is any good (having never heard of it) but it’s good to see Netflix get an edge once in a while.  I liked Date Night, maybe you will, too.  I think Solitary Man looks interesting, so have that one queued up.

I think this week we should have cupcakes.  Who feels like baking?
