Cooper chips in at CBS

In another move to bolster its news division, CBS has made a deal with CNN for Anderson Cooper’s services. Starting next season, the CNN anchor (Anderson Cooper 360) will contribute up to five reports a year to CBS’s 60 Minutes. Although I personally don’t think the show needs to get younger — my favorite remains the curmudgeonly and always funny Andy Rooney — it’s a good move for CBS. It’ll get some of Cooper’s chic, and CNN gets the rights to rebroadcast his reports. Unlike CBS’s hiring of Katie Couric, this is a win-win for both networks involved.
